JP
JDC, an officially certified AHERA Building Inspector, provides comprehensive inspection services for buildings, ensuring inspections are conducted in accordance with WorkSafeBC regulations. This involves a thorough examination of both easily-accessible and hard-to-reach areas to detect any hazardous materials.
The process includes gathering samples of materials in larger quantities for later analysis. These samples are then sent to accredited third-party laboratories for testing. The results thereof, along with detailed information about the findings and suggestions, are compiled into a comprehensive report. Each report is enriched with visual evidence through photos, evaluations of risks, drawings indicating the locations of the samples, and official laboratory reports.
Hazardous Materials Survey

Hazardous Materials Survey

A typical survey typically covers potentially harmful substances, such as asbestos, lead, mould, mercury, PCBs, silica, arsenic, ozone-depleting compounds, rodent/bird waste, radioactive materials, and any other flammable or toxic materials. If there’s a suspicion of asbestos or lead in any materials, accredited laboratories are tasked with analyzing them to confirm their presence. The resulting survey report needs to be visibly displayed at the worksite where removal is planned, and the primary contractor or owner is obligated to submit a WorkSafeBC Notice of Project 24 hours before commencing the removal process.

Contractor

Contractor Compliance Services

One of the primary objectives of contractor compliance services is to facilitate legal and regulatory compliance. Construction and contracting activities are subject to a multitude of laws and regulations governing safety, environmental impact, labor practices, and more. These services help contractors navigate this complex web of rules, ensuring that they operate within the boundaries of the law. Compliance experts are well-versed in the intricacies of these regulations and work closely with contractors to interpret and implement them correctly.
Indoor Air Quality

Indoor Air Quality

Indoor air quality plays a pivotal role in Project Management in Hazardous Materials & Demolition, as it directly impacts the health and safety of workers and occupants within affected structures. During hazardous materials removal and demolition projects, the disturbance of potentially harmful substances like asbestos, lead, and mould can release hazardous particles into the air. Effective project management necessitates constant monitoring and control of indoor air quality to minimize exposure to these contaminants. This involves implementing stringent containment and ventilation measures, conducting air quality testing, and ensuring that workers have appropriate respiratory protection. Prioritizing indoor air quality not only safeguards the well-being of project personnel but also mitigates the risk of environmental contamination and regulatory non-compliance, which are critical considerations in the successful execution of these projects.

Environmental Site Assessment

Environmental Site Assessment

Environmental Site Assessments are integral to Demolition and Hazardous Materials projects, serving as a comprehensive evaluation of a site’s environmental condition before any work begins. These assessments are critical for identifying potential environmental hazards, such as contaminated soil, groundwater, or the presence of hazardous materials like asbestos or lead-based paint. By conducting thorough assessments, project managers can develop effective strategies for safe demolition and hazardous material removal while minimizing risks to both human health and the environment. Understanding the environmental aspects of a site is essential not only for regulatory compliance but also for protecting the well-being of workers and nearby communities, making Environmental Site Assessments an indispensable part of planning and executing these projects responsibly.
Files Management

Files Management

File management is a critical aspect of Project Management in Hazardous Materials & Demolition. Given the complex regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and environmental considerations inherent in such projects, meticulous organization and tracking of documents are imperative. Project managers must maintain an extensive array of records, including permits, safety plans, environmental assessments, and material testing reports. Efficient file management ensures that crucial information is readily accessible for compliance purposes, facilitates timely decision-making, and helps prevent delays or legal complications. It also aids in maintaining transparency, accountability, and a comprehensive historical record of the project, making it an essential component of successful Hazardous Materials & Demolition management.

Furthermore, we assume the role of the owner’s representative by offering oversight for abatement projects. Throughout the entirety of the abatement project, we ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements. This involves continuous monitoring to guarantee compliance, encompassing activities such as air sampling, inspections for clearance, and taking samples. We finalize the process by providing the necessary approvals to confirm the successful fulfillment of all project tasks, as signified by a clearance letter.
